These diminutive creatures were witnessed by twelve people (5 adult and seven children) during, what is known as "The Kelly–Hopkinsville encounter (a.k.a. Hopkinsville Goblins Case, Kelly Green Men Case)". This was a close encounter with extraterrestrial beings back in 1955 near Kelly and Hopkinsville in Christian County, Kentucky, United States. The incident quickly became regional and even national news and the case is widely regarded as one of the most significant and well-documented UFO incidents in recorded history. Alerted by the dogs constant barking two of the adults went to investigate and saw a small glowing humanoid emerging from the darkness. Elmer Sutton and Billy Ray Taylor, claimed they had been shooting at "twelve to fifteen" short, figures who repeatedly popped up at the doorway or peered into the windows for up to several hours. five state troopers, three deputy sheriffs, and four military police from the nearby US Army Fort Campbell drove to the Sutton farmhouse , but heir search yielded nothing apart from evidence of gunfire and holes in window and door screens made by firearms. The next day, neighbors told two officers that the families had "packed up and left" after claiming "the creatures had returned about 3:30 in the morning"

Physiology:

These extra-terrestrial creatures are described as small humanoids, about three and a half feet tall, with an oversized head. Their arms were said to extended almost to the ground, with taloned hands, large pointed ears and oversized eyes that glowed with a yellowish light. Their bodies were said to give off an eerie shimmer, as if made of “silver metal” and supposedly they "floated" through the trees and the sound of bullets striking them "resembled bullets striking a metal bucket".

Etylmology:

These odd little creatures gained their name from their similarity in appearance to the Goblin. A diminutive creature form European folklore.

History:

One evening on August 21, 1955, five adults and seven children informed the Hopkinsville police that small alien creatures were attacking their farmhouse and they had been holding them off with gunfire "for nearly four hours" after their craft had been seen landing not far from their location.

Territory:

America

Origination:

Statements from those present at the time of the incident lead to the conclusion that these creatures were of extra-terrestrial origin. Sutton family friend Billy Ray Taylor who was fetching water from the backyard well also claims to have witnessed their arrival, when he saw a silvery object, “real bright, with an exhaust all the colors of the rainbow come silently toward the house, pass over it, stop in the air and then drop straight to the ground.

Nature:

The Hopkinsville Goblin case is a very bizzarre incident. Even whilst under a barrage of gunfire, the creatures chose to neither attack nor flee from the scene. Their behaviour, even though appearing as possibly provoking at times was more akin to curiosity. They were either unaware or incapable of realizing the situation or simply did not care or see it as a concern.+I35

Modus Operandi:

Curious and provoking. As with many other extra-terrestrial encounters, the reason for the actual visitation will remain a mystery, although in this particular instance it did not seem to be a hostile one, but one of curiosity. Was their presence here a mission of information gathering?, were they testing our capabilities? or were they simply passing through?

Vulnerability:

An odd luminous patch along a fence where one of the beings had been shot was witnessed, as well as a further green luminescence which was seen in the woods beyond. Were these creatures harmed by the barrage of gunfire after all and not as immune as was first assumed? Other sources claim however, that this description was also consistent with foxfire, a bioluminescent fungus which is known to grow on decaying wood. The description of how these goblin-like creatures reacted to impact from the rounds fired at them, combined with the strange metalic-like glowing texture of their skin would suggest they were possibly wearing some form of environmental or protective suit, which could withstand such a high level of damage.
